I am now using #Windows8.1 and it appears that the Windows Experience Index has now been removed from the OS.\u00a0 From doing a quick search on the Internet it seems that this is not a superficial change and that it has actually been removed.<\/p>\n
Although the WEI wasn’t that useful for power users, and to be honest, I suspect that most average users hardly knew it was there, it was always something that was \u201chandy\u201d.<\/p>\n
Can\u2019t say that I am very annoyed that they have removed it, just merely something I would use to see how good my PC was, without having to use a benchmark tool.<\/p>\n
Someone rightly pointed out that the WEI is actually no longer required (well, that is if MS get their way), as the expectation is that you will buy most of your applications through the MS Store.\u00a0 Given the approach google and Apple use for these sorts of purchases, if your machine doesn\u2019t meet the required standard, you will merely just not see the application on your search, it will be hidden.
