#wp8review – #lumia #820 #switch from a big fan of the old #wp7 #htc #hd7

I am, and always have been a big fan of the htc hd7. I was one of the first to jump on board with the wp7 software and hardware.
Yes, it is true the hd7 was a rebaked version of the hd2, but it is excepted that the hd2 hardware was one of the most capable of its time. A good all rounder.

Windows Phone 7, when it was released had its faults. It was very clunky but underneath there was something that was inherently good.
Mango came along and then it was, for me, a fine example of how a phone should work.

I have again jumped onto the windows band wagon, but this time in the form of a #Lumia #820.
The hardware of the 820 is spookily similar to the hd7. Decent screen, good size for the hand, battery life…

The Lumia comes with a couple of things that the hd7 should have had… The swappable micro ds card slot is great for the music and video lovers. Of which i am one. Xbox Music Pass (previously Zune Pass) can be downloaded directly to the SD to allow you to have a music collection of 32gb for the price of only a £15 micro sd. There are a few pitfalls in this area, like syncing and swapping the sd, but i will post about them later on.

The wireless charge plate, i felt, would be a complete gimmick, but like quite a few reviewers, once you start to use it, you find how extremely helpful and hand it is…

The hd7 had srs sound, which i really miss. The hd7 also was a little more sleek and less rugged. That said, i can see the 820 lasting for longer than my hd7 did.

I am not a power user of the phone, i don’t do games, but i do a lot of communications, like email, browsing, blogging and twittering. Plus i love music and watching films. For that the phone is ideal.

The hd7 and the #lumia 820 are very similar. Using it, for me, is like seeing an old friend again, one of which you actually now see as better than you remember.

The lumia 820 is a evolution rather than a revolution of the hd7. For me, that is ideal…
