I have been reading that Windows 8.1 will potentially include a new feature called kiosk. It seems similar to the kids corner concept in windows phone 8.
Basically it limits a LOT of the features in the device. Closes it right down to only selected needs. They say this is a great feature for people who need apps in stores, etc.
I see it as a huge step forward for utilising the surface hardware for all sorts of things.
Locking down the hardware to a specific app will allow it to be used from anything such as a meeting room booker hub, a sandwich ordering device, a stock checker, a jukebox, all sorts.
This feature they HAVE to include in the final build. The possibilities are endless… !
