Whats next for the tech companies? #TheFutureOfHome #HomeTech

Its true to say that the tech companies are in a bit of muddle.  Companies like Apple have lost their way with the lack of true innovation over the last two or so years.

Microsoft has had to move into the Apple world by producing its own hardware and creating a new OS that will support gesture and touch in a way that Windows has not been able to before.

HP, IBM, Dell and the like are struggling to shift large PC’s now.  Recent stats show that for the first time ever tablet devices have managed to outsell the PC.  This is reflection on how we want to interact at home with things like the web and apps…

Which brings me nicely on where the next activities will come.  Samsung is trying this already through the TV improvements it continually brings, but so far the results have been somewhat limited.  The home is by far and away the biggest growth areas for companies.

Heating, Water, Electricity, lighting, Hi-Fi, television, home security – EVERYTHING has the capability of letting you know more information and making you more aware of what is going on (and in some ways can help you save money).

Video calls at home still haven’t taken off in the way they should / will.  Things like a bathroom mirror that contain apps like weather, the news headlines, etc.  All should and will be coming to a bathroom near you soon.

A fridge that can scan a barcode of a produce to give you an inventory of what you have within it, one for the freezer whilst you are at it…

There are loads of ways to be more efficient – just no company is ready or set up to do it yet.
