I didn’t manage to fully get my words out / understand why #Windows8 didn’t work…

I had a feeling that I wasn’t able to correctly articulate the reasoning behind the Windows 8 “failure”.

I wont lie, I saw this in an article I read yesterday, but for me, it answered a lot and gave reason an rhyme to why there is such a BLACK / WHITE view of the Windows 8 operating system.

The OS has been written for people on the move, using tablets, at the expense of people who use desktop machines.

That single sentence explains why it is either hated of loved.

If you use the OS on the move and need a tablet / desktop experience combined, then you have the benefits of all of what Windows 8 can offer.  Its ideal for people like you.

If you are a casual user, who has a desktop or laptop then Windows 8 fails you in every way.  Its too complicated, its to different, its just wrong.

The power users have an OS which they can embrace and use on the move with ease.  The legacy users, of which there are many many of them (I read there are 1.5 billion devices running Windows of some sort) you will really struggle to see the benefits.

Corporates and mid sized companies aren’t going to touch it until and SP1 comes out, or “blue” as its code named.  I think the OS is right, still believe its right, but too much of it was aimed at the power / tablet users with little or no thought or concern for the massive amount of legacy Windows hardware and users.
