I have used Zune for about three years now, The service is pretty good. You get all the music you could want for a one off fee of about 80GBP per year.
I used to love the features it brought with the Zune software and Windows Phone 7. You would download songs whilst out and about, on your phone, and when your return home you would have the phone and PC automatically sync over wifi to keep your phone and home stack of music in sync,
This went when windows 8 appeared and was not available for the windows 8 phone either. You were forced to use the xBox music app which had little or none of the functionality that was present in the Zune software.
Fast forward to the present day. I have now started to use Windows 8.1 (which albeit without a knife to your throat) forces you to log in with a MSA (Microsoft account). The benefit this now brings with your Zune Music Pass is that ANY device that uses windows 8, is logged into that MSA in the Xbox Music App will now automatically sync up your music. They use a feature called cloud sync, which enables you to have all devices accessing the same music. I like the feature, its nice and seems to work.
The problem is its another way of them getting you to use their services. For the normal user, its a very handy feature, for the power user, it removes the control the wifi sync once brought you…
