#Microsoft / #Nokia needs the next generation of #WindowsPhone… But its no where to be seen! Read more…

So I was an early adopter of the Windows Phone platform. Started using it when the HD7 from HTC came out about three and a half years ago.

Since then we have seen little in the way of decent upgrades. We saw Windows Phone 8 released but that’s been about it.

Now to be honest, the hardware is more important to me than the OS. I am pretty happy with the OS and the Apps are slowly starting to become useful. NetFlix, iPlayer and a few other apps are starting to appear which have been on Android and iOS for a long time, don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of catching up to do, but overall it is improving.

The hardware has not really improved. I used to use the HD7 and I have now been using the slightly faster and more rugged Nokia Lumia 820.

I have been using it for a year and a half and i am starting to think its a but bulky and heavy when compared to the iPhone 5c.

When browsing for the latest phones i see Nokia as the main player. Samsung have a phone out soon but overall its Nokia producing Windows Phones.
They have a 1030, a 1520 and in the US there is the Icon.

None of these really have the wow factor for me to upgrade. The only phone that looks sort of potentially an upgrade is the 925 and that has been out for quite a while.

The 925 is just a less bulky version of the heavy 920 (which had the very useful Qi charging). And the 920 is / was just a more powerful version of the 820. So to be honest its not much of an update for someone moving to a 925 from an 820.

Ideally I would want to see Bluetooth PAN, Qi, a camera upgrade, something weighing the same as the iphone 5c, with a decent screen (same as 820 is fine to be honest) and something less bulky. About as thin as the 925.

Is that too much to ask after waiting three and a half years?
