My trusty #Mongoose bike is at the end of its life… My #TyaxSuper was bought in 2006 and has served me well. What next?

So, I did a ride on my trusty Mongoose Tyax Super last weekend and it would appear that the odd noise that I heard in the main crank isn't a good one. That coupled with the bits that have fallen off of the #RockShox #Judy2 forks has resulted me in concidering a new bike.

I have owned the #Mongoose for some time (eight years) and to be honest, I think it has served me well. Its been round the Isle of Wight twice, done the London to Southend, its done endless on road trials through Essex and South London. The poor thing has done thousands of miles and never been serviced or properly looked after.

The ride at the weekend seems to have pushed it over the edge. The break pads are constantly sticking and vibrating, the front forks have had the lockout bits fall off, the crank is making a click/clunk/klonk noise and the gear change is less than slick.

I am going to speak with someone who knows about bikes and see what they suggest – I am tempted to get it serviced, but I am pretty sure that this will cost quite a bit to begin with (Evans are not cheap) and then I am pretty sure they are going to list what needs to be replaced.

Its been a good bike, but could it be the end?
