#GE2015 continues to bring surprises… #EdBalls #EdStone #SNP #UKIP #LiberalDemocrats #Conservatives #Labour

So, it’s continues to be a rather surprising election. #Labour have been completely demolished in #Scotland by the people power and surge for the #SNP. Sturgeon held a great campaign and Labour were not up to the job to defend against them.
I think it is a great outcome for the #Scottish people to now have a voice in the Westminster “village” which can fight for their wants and needs.
Their enthusiasm and want for change isn’t too different to what is held by many people regarding the EU.

They want to be part of the larger establishment but don’t want to be run by them.  They want a better deal, they want things improved for their benefit.

#Labour have just been informed their Shadow Chancellor (Ed Balls) has lost his seat.  His buffer / margin of votes was quite small, just a couple of thousand votes, and the Conservative winner has now won that seat off him with a majority if only five hundred.
This poses a huge problem for Ed Milliband (his #EdStone might be needed and reused sooner than he hoped). The two Eds has been very close in their way if working and stood firmly together in their common beliefs for Labour. With Balls now gone, will Milliband stay on? I doubt it. The ground swell of discontent will be too hard to stop on his own. Is his brother smiling? You decide…

The #LiberalDemocrats have been completely decimated. I suspect a clever voting plan by the Conservatives has helped do this. Their push of “not voting for us means you get Labour and SNP” will have swung some votes. I would think that also there will be a lot of the Liberals who can not, and never will, forgive Nick Clegg for his decision to let the Tories into power by going into coalition with them five years ago. That rose garden must seem like such a distant memory now. They have lost a lot of big hitters. Danny Alexander being the most notable one for me. Will Clegg stay on as leader? Its hard to see who would want his job…

At the time of typing, the UKIP result has not come in. But they seem to be taking votes from Labour AND the Conservatives.

Two days ago, a hung parliament was inevitable. Last night at 2200 it was surprising to see and hear that the Conservatives, with the help of the #DUP would probably be able to form a majority government.
At the time of writing this, it now appears that the Conservatives will likely hold a majority on their own… The one thing that is constant through this whole election is this. No one had a clue what was going to happen…
