#Windows10 is more a #Windows7 upgrade than a move for the #Windows8 community #PowerUser #Gestures

I have been a user of Windows 8 since it came out.  I leaped into the hardware purchase to maximise the benefits that came with moving to the new OS.  During my few years using it, I have managed to get quite used to the failings and benefits that the software brought.

Problem is, I was only one of about twenty or so people globally who used Windows 8.  And when you become a power user of software that isn’t widely used, you end up with many voices drowning out the few.

Some of this has come true for the release of Windows 10 (and as a power user migrating from Windows 8 to Windows 10 it is incredibly frustrating).

Small things that make your life easier in Windows 8 are not present in Windows 10.  Here are some examples:

Swiping the charms bar out and then pressing the start button.  That has vanished in Windows 10 (well, the whole charms bar has).  I get not everyone liked it, but as a gestures users, it was very handy.

Not being able to swipe backward when using a browser.  In the Modern (metro) browser in Windows 8 you were able to use gestures to move around, this is missing in the release of Edge.

Being able to access the Task Bar items when in Tablet Mode.  God only knows why this is removed, and what they intend to achieve by removing it, but you can’t access items you have stored on your task bar.

Start menu access for “other” applications.  In Windows 8 a swipe from the bottom – up, would produce all of the apps on your computer.  From there you can select the one you want.  This is now much harder (as a gesture user) in Windows 10.

I have only been using Windows 10 for a few hours but there are some features that were very helpful in Windows 8 that no longer exist in Windows 10.  Such a shame…
